What is Acrobat? Adobe Acrobat is software that allows you to view files in PDF format.
What is PDF, and why do we use it? Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) is a standard for electronic document distribution. It preserves all fonts, formatting, graphics and color in any document, regardless of what machine or software it was created or viewed on. PDF files can be shared, viewed and printed exactly as intended by anyone and the viewer need to see the files is free to anyone.
How do I view the PDF files? You must have software from Adobe called Acrobat.
Where do I get Acrobat? Free Acrobat Reader software is easily downloaded from the Adobe web site. If you do not have please follow the instructions below.
When I go to the Adobe site I see 3 versions of Acrobat available, which is the one I want? For the purpose of viewing and printing anything on our site the free base version Acrobat Reader 5.0 will work fine.
To download Adobe Acrobat: 1. Click on the "Get Acrobat Reader" Logo below and you will be taken to the Adobe web site (you must be online).
2. Click on "Get Acrobat Reader free!" at the bottom of the page. Follow the instructions for downloading the Acrobat Reader.
3. Once you have downloaded the file, run it to begin the installation process. You will be downloading a 8.5 megabyte file which will take approximately 30 minutes using a 56k dial-up connection. If you have a cable or DSL service it will be much quicker.
4. After you have successfully installed the Acrobat Reader you will be able to view and print our map, newsletter and forms. |
